VERO BEACH – Lois Faville Kelley, 77, died in Vero Beach, Florida on Jan. 6, 2018, the Day of the Epiphany, with a smile on her face. Lois was born on Oct. 16, 1940, in West Palm Beach, to Margaret and Lawrence Faville.
She graduated from Palm Beach High School, Class of ’58, where she was a cheerleader. Cheering for those she loved was a trait she carried for the rest of her life.
After graduation, Lois attended Emory University. Her college career was interrupted when she married the love of her life, William Nimmons Kelley on Aug. 1, 1959. The newlyweds went to medical school in Atlanta.
Over the next few years, they lived in Dallas, Bethesda and Boston as Bill completed his postgraduate medical training and Lois became the loving mother of their four children, Paige Kelley Nath, Ginger Kelley Yost (Christopher), Lori Kelley Lehman, and William Mark Kelley MD (Bristol) who survive her.
She is also survived by her husband, William N. Kelley MD; her sister, Jeanne Faville Browning (Jerry); and sister-in-law, Ginger Kelley McKenzie PhD.
During the decades that followed, the family lived in Durham, Ann Arbor and Bryn Mawr. Although Lois traveled the world with Bill, she loved home the most and made each home a welcome sanctuary for family and friends.
She was generous to a fault, beautiful inside and out with a subtle sense of humor capped with a lovely laugh.
Their nine grandchildren, Caddie, Jamie, Haley, Duncan, Miranda, Noah, Rowan, William and Reese, were the light of her life.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach.
Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Garden with a reception to follow at the family home.
