Mary M. Aronofsky (Cooke), the beloved wife of Joseph Aronofsky, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2021, at the age of 86, with her son Scott by her side.
Born in Boston on May 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. Cooke and the late Mary Madeline Cooke (Gibbs).
A 1953 Graduate of Boston Latin Girls School Mary was a longtime resident of Wilmington, MA, before moving to Florida in 1982 and eventually found her way back to Brookline, NH in 2016.
A lifelong Democrat, Mary enjoyed talking politics, watching the Boston Red Sox, sitting at the beach, reading, and watching the birds at her feeders. She also taught herself HTML coding while working for the Volusia County Florida Traffic Dept. and compiled several traffic statistics and safety reports. While in Florida, Mary wrote for the Snug Harbor Gazette.
Mary will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband Joe, as well as her daughter Carol Goodwin and husband Chip of Conway, NH, her son Richard Aronofsky and wife Heidi Aronofsky (Hopkins) of Venice, FL, and her son Scott Aronofsky and wife Tina Aronofsky (Maglio) of Brookline, NH.
Mary has 4 grandchildren, Lynn Hunt II, David Aronofsky, Michael Aronofsky, and Mathew Aronofsky, and his fiancé Nicole Meuse. She enjoyed spending time with her great-grandsons Liam Meuse and Theodore Aronofsky.
Mary is survived by her two brothers Thomas Cooke and wife Carol (Holt) Cooke of Tewksbury, MA, and Robert Cooke and wife Sheila (Donahue) Cooke of Carver, MA. Mary is also preceded by John Cooke, Gerald Cooke of Florida, William P. Cooke, James Cooke, Margaret Cooke (Ernest), Patricia Cooke (Foran).
At Mary’s request, services will not be held. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date to be announced.
