SEBASTIAN – Portside Pub & Grille has a great dish called the Crispy Fried Chicken Maryland Style, which took us by surprise.
The chicken was recommended by one of our readers, so we visited the place last week and ordered a couple of entrees. We haven’t been back there since our last Portside Pub & Grille review in Sebastian.
Most of the fried chicken served in Sebastian is prepared fried, heavily breaded, with bone, and greasy. The texture on the outside of the chicken is usually hard because of the way it’s been prepared and fried.
However, this chicken entree at Portside Pub & Grille is boneless with a flaky batter. The batter is one of the best, very light and cooked in a way that isn’t greasy. It’s done very well by Chef Jonathan.
The chicken comes with french fries and coleslaw. I love their coleslaw; it has no mayonnaise because they substitute creamy Italian dressing.
As you cut into the chicken with your fork, it’s moist and tender. Portside Pub & Grille offers either BBQ sauce or Honey Mustard with this meal; I choose both. Both dipping sauces went well with the chicken.
We were very impressed with the way this chicken was served and highly recommend it.
Additionally, we had their seared sea scallops served with potatoes or “roasties” as they call them, and a vegetable medley. I feel this is an excellent option for anyone looking to eat a bit healthier.
The seared sea scallops were tender and perfectly cooked, as were the “roasties,” and veggies.
We don’t usually order dessert. But, we were glad we did on this day. We opted for their Turtle Pie and Key Lime Pie. The turtle pie was a generous serving and delicious. If you are like us and only splurge on desserts once in a while, this is a great option. The Key Lime Pie was creamy and delicious and is also highly recommended for pie lovers.
The Portside Pub & Grille is located at 717 Coolidge Street in Sebastian, Florida. It’s located next to the overflow parking lot of Riverview Park.
