The Sebastian Exchange Club presents its February Students of the Month: Wyatt Walker representing Sebastian Charter Junior High School, Janine Castro Ramos from Sebastian River Middle School, Gabriel Escamilla from Storm Grove Middle School, and Stefani Sanchez and Jake Rincon from Sebastian River High School.
The Young Citizenship Awards by the Sebastian Exchange Club recognize pre-high & high school students who consistently exhibit exemplary citizenship both within their educational environment and at home. This initiative aims to acknowledge and foster qualities such as honesty, diligence, helpfulness, and fairness among young individuals. By implementing this program, teachers are equipped with a valuable tool to inspire promising students further. Wyatt Walker (Sebastian Charter Junior High School)
Wyatt Walker is a diligent leader who motivates his classmates and demonstrates strength and confidence in group settings. He is attentive to his peers’ needs and willingly assists them, embodying respect, kindness, and fairness. Janine Castro Ramos (Sebastian River Middle School)

She consistently achieves top grades, maintains a 4.5 weighted GPA, and actively engages in extracurricular activities such as Yearbook Club and FBLA while volunteering. Gabriel Escamilla (Storm Grove Middle School)
Gabriel Escamilla, already holding 2 high school credits, excels with A’s and B’s in advanced courses. He shines in cross country, placing 6th at District Championships, and showcases his musical talent in the Jazz band. An avid learner, Gabriel’s curiosity and leadership extend beyond academics, as he assists peers and teachers alike. His innovative thinking and dedication to learning set him apart, making him a true role model. As a Youth of the Month awardee, Gabriel epitomizes scholastic achievement, community involvement, and leadership, inspiring others to reach similar heights.
Stefani Sanchez (Sebastian River High School)
Stefani Sanchez, an IB Diploma Candidate with a 4.594 weighted GPA and 10th class rank, excels as a thoughtful writer and intellectual contributor. She upholds dignity and excellence, participating in various extracurriculars, including the National Honor Society, Masterminds, and varsity tennis. As a Peer-to-Peer Tutor and math tutor, she extends her knowledge to others. Stefani’s community involvement spans organizing events to volunteering for cat welfare. Grateful for support from family and teachers, she embraces her accolades with humility and gratitude.
Jake Rincon (Sebastian River High School)
Jake Rincon, an IB Diploma Candidate with a 4.569 weighted GPA, ranks 15th in his class. He is actively involved in the National Honor Society, FBLA, and Excel Club and tutors at Fellsmere Elementary. Jake excels in sports as captain of the Crew Team, leading them to consecutive State Championships. He is engaged in culinary pursuits and balances work at Ocean Grill and Service One Cleaning. Grateful for support from the Sebastian Exchange Club, his family, and teachers, Jake aims to pursue meteorology at Florida State University’s Honors Program.

The Exchange Club of Sebastian actively engages in various local community initiatives alongside its Student of the Month program. Focused on pillars such as Child Abuse Prevention, Youth Activities, Americanism, and Community Service, they host their primary annual fundraiser, the Blue Water Open Charity Offshore Fishing Tournament. Set for June 1st, with festivities beginning May 31st, this event has raised over $1,000,000 for community projects.
