The Sebastian River Gridiron Association (SRGA) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and an extension of the Sebastian River High School Football program. The team’s head coach, Tyrone Perry, has been a coach for over 25 years. He has had the vision to do more for the team and to give back in the community. To help make that vision a reality, the SRGA was formed just two short years ago. It consists of five volunteer board members and numerous volunteer committee members.
In those two years, SRGA’s most remarkable accomplishment is awarding nine student-athletes scholarships totaling $7,000. The scholarship recipients, who the coaches select, must meet the following criteria: be an active senior SRHS football player who finishes the season, has participated in two consecutive varsity seasons, plans to attend an accredited 2-year, 4-year, or vocational/trade school, carry a 2.5 GPA (unweighted), and must have demonstrated leadership, good sportsmanship, a strong work ethic, and made an impact on and off the field. Whatever the athlete’s future dreams are, SRGA is committed to investing in and supporting them.
In addition to scholarships, SRGA has also provided the team with new uniforms and practice wear, helmets, upgraded/replaced training, and filming equipment, provided sponsorships for off-season specialty camps, made donations to other sports at SRHS, and is always reaching out to those in the community.
SRGA and SRHS Football depend on the community. Because of this community, the team of football coaches, and the support from SRHS teachers and administration, Coach Perry is building relationships far beyond the football field.
Sebastian River Gridiron Association & Coaches want to congratulate the SRGA Coach’s Education Scholarship recipients. After careful consideration and the student-athletes meeting the criteria, the coaches awarded this year’s recipient $1000 towards the student athlete’s continued education. We are honored to award Chris Harris, Gavin Ford, and Garrett Kulp this year’s scholarship. Congratulations and best wishes to you are your continued academic journey. Go Get Your Dream!
