The Sebastian River High School Singing Sharks have claimed top honors at the Music in the Parks Festival Competition at Universal Orlando for the third consecutive year.
Competing against schools from across the United States and Canada, “the Shark Choir received a 1st Place Superior Rating in Mixed Choir category, Encore received a 1st Place Superior Rating in Renaissance Choir category, and a 1st Place Superior Rating in Show Choir category,” said Larry J. Stanley, Director of Choral Activities at Sebastian River High School.
In addition, junior Autumn Ball took home the Best Soloist medal for her standout performance in the Encore Show Choir entry.
The crowning moment came when the Singing Sharks were awarded the coveted Esprit Decor trophy, a prize that celebrates more than just musical talent. Voted on by staff and student workers from the host school, the award recognizes the group’s decorum, discipline, and positive attitude from arrival to departure.

The Music in the Parks Festival, held at Universal Orlando Resort, brings together student bands, choirs, and orchestras for a unique blend of competition and theme park fun. Adjudicators—seasoned music educators—provide feedback to help young performers grow, while an awards ceremony celebrates their achievements.
This year’s triumph adds to an already impressive legacy for the Singing Sharks, who have now secured a “Superior Sweep” three years running. As they stepped off the stage and into the park, their trophy-laden bus ride home was a fitting end to a day of celebration.
Congratulations to the Singing Sharks—proof that talent, teamwork, and a great attitude can take you to the top.
