Brady Contreras #5
Brady Contreras, a dedicated kicker for the Sharks, joined the team at the end of his sophomore year. His time on the team has instilled in him invaluable qualities such as respect, discipline, and dedication. Contreras believes that regardless of one’s position on the field, it’s possible to excel and make a significant impact.
After graduating high school, Contreras plans to pursue a degree in digital information technology. He is grateful for the support and guidance he has received from his mother and coaches, who have played a crucial role in his development as an athlete and an individual.
“I want to thank my mom for everything she does for me. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be the person I am today,” he told Sebastian Daily.
He also appreciates the SRHS coaches who allowed him to participate in the Shark program.
“I am forever grateful to Assistant Coach Snow for being my first football coach and bringing me onto the team. Thank you to Head Coach Perry for always believing in me and allowing me to play and be a part of this shark program, and Assistant Coach Butler for pushing me in the weight room and helping me on and off the field. It helped me tremendously to become the man I am today,” Contreras stated.
There was nothing but love for Contreras from the perspective of his coaches.
“Contreras is a hardworking student-athlete. He shows great respect for the coaches & his team. He is a team player,” Assistant Coach Snow explained.
“Brady has been constantly improving. He dedicated himself to getting better this off-season and this summer. With his hard work, he has earned opportunities to get some more kicks. He has done what the staff asked of him, putting in the work in practice this summer. It will be a breakout season for him as a varsity player,” Head Coach Perry told Sebastian Daily.
Joseph Lomas #66
Joseph Lomas, a Sebastian River High School senior, is a formidable 6’0″ ft, 220 lb Quick Guard for the Sharks football team. With his sights set on joining the Air Force after graduation, Lomas aims to expand his knowledge and skills in the technology field.
During his free time, Lomas enjoys photography and working out with his brother.
Lomas holds his football coaches in high regard, looking up to them for their guidance and expertise.
“The coaches mean a lot to me, especially Assistant Coaches Harris and Franklin. Four years ago today, Coach Harris had me try out for center, and I was terrible at it. But he saw great potential in me and never gave up on me. Two years later, I started on varsity and got picked up by coaches Franklin and Harris. I have made extreme progress on my form from where I was, and to this day, they see so much that I don’t see in myself. I can’t wait to see how much further I grow,” Lomas told Sebastian Daily.
“Shout out to Head Coach Perry for not only being a coach but also a father figure to all of us on and off the field. When we get into trouble, we get a father-son talk to correct our behavior, make better decisions in the future, and ensure great discipline,” Lomas added.
Like any great son, he thanked his mother for being there for him through thick and thin.
“I also want to thank my mom for being with me through thick and thin. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her. If I didn’t have something, she would do anything in her power to make me happy if it meant giving up a lot she didn’t have. I appreciate her with my life. She turned me into the kid I am today. I love my mom,” expressed Lomas.
Coaches Perry and Harris explain that Lomas is a passionate, team-oriented, hardworking player.
“Lomas is a go-hard, passionate player who wants to be the best at his position. He has the drive to play above his size. Playing the offensive line is a tough task, but Lomas has become a versatile tool in the offensive line. He moved to offensive guard after playing center last year without any complaints. He does what he does for the team. He has always been team-oriented, and with his love and passion for football, this season will be his best yet,” Perry told Sebastian Daily.
“Joseph has been a hardworking team player for the Sharks for two years, and we appreciate his hard work and dedication to the program,” said Assistant Coach Harris.
