During the 2023-2024 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday, consumers can buy eligible school supplies without having to pay any tax. This tax exemption period, approved by the Florida Legislature and endorsed by Governor Ron DeSantis, is set to run from Monday, July 24, 2023, until Sunday, August 6, 2023.
Another tax-free period is scheduled from Monday, January 1, 2024, to Sunday, January 14, 2024. To disseminate information and promotional content to consumers, businesses, and other stakeholders, the Department of Revenue has established a dedicated webpage.
Eligible purchases
- Clothing
- Footwear
- Certain accessories
- School supplies
- Learning aids
- Jigsaw puzzles
- Personal computers or related accessories for noncommercial home or personal use
The tax-free holiday does not extend to the rental or repair of eligible items. Furthermore, purchases made within a theme park, entertainment complex, public accommodation facility, or airport are not exempt from sales tax during this period.
