The Florida Highway Patrol responded to a serious crash on I-95 involving three children and an adult from Sebastian.
The crash occurred around noon on Sunday near mile marker 179 in Melbourne.
According to FHP, a Lexus LS sedan was speeding and weaving through traffic when it struck a semi-truck while attempting to change lanes. The impact caused the Lexus to overturn, ejecting the driver and a 13-year-old passenger.
Troopers said both the 35-year-old driver and a 13-year-old girl, neither of whom were wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the vehicle. The driver is in critical condition, while the girl was airlifted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Also in the Lexus were a seat belted 16-year-old boy and a 3-year-old in a child safety seat. Both were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 58-year-old semi-truck driver, a Hialeah resident, was unharmed and remained at the scene of the accident. FHP is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
