Today, Sebastian Mayor Ed Dodd spoke with us about the annexation and why the City did not appeal the case.
Dodd clears up all the misinformation that was said last year by Council members Damien Gilliams and Pamela Parris. In fact, as of July 2020, Parris never read the annexation even though she ran on the platform to overturn it.
Dodd also said that if Graves Brothers doesn’t pull out of Sebastian, he will schedule workshops about a future annexation. There were several meetings about the annexation last year, but people didn’t show up.
The property in question will be developed. If Graves Brothers pulls out, the County or Fellsmere will annex it. Dodd said it will be a total loss for Sebastian because annexation provides public input and how the property is developed. There is also tax monies that are generated for the city.
