Sebastian was spared during the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which ends Saturday.
The closest storm was Hurricane Dorian, which battered the Bahamas for more than 24 hours as a Category 5. The storm eventually moved north, saving Sebastian, Florida. Dorian worried everyone in Florida, from West Palm Beach to Daytona Beach.
In a lot of ways, Dorian was similar to Hurricane Matthew as it came very close to our shoreline. Matthew was heading straight for Sebastian before it jogged to the right, or northeast, sparring our area.
Sebastian has been spared multiple times during the past four years, with Category 5 hurricanes coming very close to Florida’s east coast.
