The winds are howling today, and we have a few advisories to discuss in Sebastian, Florida. Expect wind gusts of 25 mph most of the week with a 30 percent chance of rain.
There is currently a Wind Advisory in Sebastian.
“Breezy to windy conditions will occur over east central Florida today. Northeast winds of 25 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph are expected along the coast from Volusia down through the Treasure Coast where a Wind Advisory is in effect,” the National Weather Service (NWS) said.
There is also a High Surf Advisory.
Large breaking waves are happening now at the inlet and beaches with 8 to 10 feet in the surf. Officials warn people not to enter the water at the beaches due to the rip current.
There’s a Coastal Flood Advisory.
“High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking waves and dangerous surf conditions. Entering the surf is not advised,” NWS said in a statement.
Gale Warning in effect until 10 p.m. this evening.
Boaters should be aware of northeast winds 20 to 25 knots with frequent gusts to gale force. Seas 11 to 13 feet with occasional seas to 18 feet. A dominant period 12 seconds. Rough on the Intracoastal waters. Showers likely. Slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Tonight, east winds 20 to 25 knots diminishing to 15 to 20 knots after midnight. Seas 9 to 11 feet with occasional seas to 15 feet. A dominant period 11 seconds. Rough on the Intracoastal waters. Chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms.
