SEBASTAIN – A strong storm is moving into Sebastian and Vero Beach tonight ahead of a cold front. This system is posing a more significant threat to Indian River County than our original forecast.
The storm fast-moving storm carries a squall line that will bring damaging wind gusts of 60-80 mph with possible isolated tornadoes and hail up to 1 inch in diameter.
The greatest impact of this storm will be from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. this evening in Sebastian and Vero Beach.
The Indian River County Emergency Services Department is asking all residents to review their emergency plan for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. Monitor the latest weather information using a NOAA Weather radio, smartphone, TV, or AM/FM radio.
If warnings are issued for our area, be prepared to seek safe shelter in a sturdy structure. Avoid windows, doors and outside walls. Find shelter in the center of a small interior room, such as a bathroom or closet, on the lowest level.
