Hurricane Dorian is expected to move past Sebastian later on Tuesday in open waters. Dorian has been downgraded to a Category 3 and is not expected to make landfall in Florida.
As we reported last night, Sebastian is no longer in Dorian’s projected path after the National Hurricane Center updated its cone of uncertainty.
However, we are still under a hurricane warning until Dorian passes.
As of the 8:00 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Sebastian, Grant, Barefoot Bay, Micco, Fellsmere, Wabasso, and Vero Beach can expect tropical force winds.
Hurricane Dorian is located 110 miles away from West Palm Beach, Florida. The Category 3 hurricane has maximum sustained winds of 120 mph. Dorian is moving northwest at 1 mph.
“The system should turn northward with a gradual increase in forward speed as it moves through the weakness in around 48 hours,” the National Hurricane Center stated.
Sebastian can still expect high winds, rain, storm surge, power loss, and potential flooding.
FPL told Sebastian Daily that they have 17,000 workers ready to restore power.
