A disturbance called Tropical Cyclone Nine is expected to become a tropical storm by Saturday. A tropical storm watch has been issued for Grant, Barefoot Bay, Micco, Sebastian, and Vero Beach.
This storm will not reach hurricane status. The tropical storm is expected to arrive in Sebastian at 2:00 a.m. Sunday.
“The system could bring tropical-storm-force winds to portions of the Florida east coast over the weekend,” the National Hurricane Center said.
Sebastian can expect heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding. The winds are expected to be 30 to 50 mph with possible higher gusts.
Since last night, most of the computer-generated models show the storm moving northward along the east coast of Florida.
We will publish another update later today.
