There’s a possibility we might not have rain at all this weekend, but it depends on how strong the winds are out of the southwest. We made it through 4 to 5 inches of rain last weekend in Sebastian, and now the National Weather Service (NWS) predicts more rain.
The wind direction means everything when it comes to rain in Sebastian. As we’ve repeatedly said, stronger winds from the east this time of year will indicate less chance of precipitation for our city.
The outdoor temperatures will also be hot, so please stay hydrated.
For Friday, we will have a high of 91 and an overnight low of 72. There’s a 60 percent chance of rain in the afternoon. Winds are out of the southwest at 5 to 10 mph. There’s a good chance of rain unless the wind speeds out of the southwest can climb to at least 15 to 20 mph.
Saturday will also have a high of 91 and an overnight low of 70. The rain chance is 70 percent, with a southwest wind speed of 10 mph. Again, the wind speeds need to be at least 15 mph to keep the moisture away from Sebastian. Unless that happens, we can undoubtedly see rain on Saturday.
Rain chance continues into Sunday with south winds at 10 mph. Certainly a recipe for more rain. The overnight low will be 73.
It’s still too early to predict next week; we’ll have another forecast on Monday.
Rain and shine, it’s going to be a great weekend in Sebastian. Grab an umbrella in case you get caught in the showers. Nothing wrong with some rain. It will keep the temperatures a bit cooler.
There’s also no activity in the tropics right now amid hurricane season.
Don’t forget about all the events going on this weekend in Sebastian!
