VERO BEACH – The National Weather Service has posted several advisories in Indian River County for Sebastian and Vero Beach.
A high risk of rip currents is expected through this evening. Strong east winds will provide high surf and breaking waves.
A small craft advisory will remain in effect for Vero Beach and Sebastian with gusty east winds around 20 knots. Seas will be 6 to 8 feet near shore and up to 9 feet offshore.
Another problem is the potential of fires. The combination of strong, gusty east winds and low humidity will produce a moderate to high danger for the spread of fires, according to the National Weather Service.
It will be mostly cloudy today with a 20 percent chance of showers. Sustained winds from the east are around 20 mph with gusts 25 to 30 mph. These conditions will continue throughout Monday.
